Getting back into the photo game

6
Last night at our marina

Cindy and I discussed it and we’re both going to bring back our photography “A” game.  This image is me bringing it back to my “C” or “B” level.  Decades ago I used to be a professional photographer, a field that I left due to lack of money and appalling deadlines.  Now that I’m getting more serious as a blogger and writer, I realize I need to step up my imagery as well, so look for more improvements in the near future.

    Again, thank you.

If I were to enter this image in a juried competition, it would likely get booted out in the early rounds as being not dynamic or interesting enough — it doesn't engage the viewer in a way that makes a great photo. As a nice scenic to use as a desktop wallpaper or framed as a wall hanging? Sure, but nothing more.

And I'm not trying to be a snob or put on airs. Over the years I've earned a fistful of personal photography ribbons and a number of top level international team awards, all of which were won with better images. I'm just saying that top level competition brings out the big boys and girls with serious photo chops and this image wouldn't pass muster at that elite level.
