I didn’t know if Baydog was familiar enough with the figurehead of Sultana to get my last quiz, but he came through in flying colors. And here she is — all downrigged and prepped for the long winter months. Cindy and I did a circumnavigation of the upper Chesapeake Bay this past weekend, and the last stop we made before the sun went down was Chestertown.
For the image below, I have no clue whatsoever what the box is on the end of the bowsprit.
From observing the odd lines going into the water (below) elsewhere in the same area, they are used to suspend a bubbler or aerator.
Looks rather naked without her upper spars.
