Why the resident ospreys prefer to build their nest in the elbow of the marina crane is anyone’s guess, but they’ve been doing it for years and years. No one bothers them, that’s for certain.
Here in the Bay, the presence of ospreys means two things — it’s spring… and there’s fish. And the fishermen are very intent upon their arrival; no ospreys wheeling around in the sky means no fish. And when they DO arrive it also means the fishing season is soon behind. In our case, rockfish season begins on April 21.
