I admit it; I’d seen these rectangles many times before, but never realized what they were until my Dad told me today. Here are the clues:
- They were presented at some distance above my eye-level, at an odd angle and badly illuminated. I apologize for the graininess, but I was using a super wide-angle lens and this is a minute crop of the last image.
- The material containing the rectangles is of all-metal construction and there are two of these panels on this specific all-metal structure (out of over 27,000 panels produced), with each panel being a mirror image of the other.
- This particular structure originated in Buffalo, New York. Then it meandered its way to Canada, then Alaska, then — after some time — eventually became the possession of a boys youth group in one of the states bordering the Gulf of Mexico, before finally coming to rest in Maryland back in 1964. I don’t know when it arrived where I discovered it today, full of hope.
There you go. Have fun!
