Old School Photo Hack

Optical Illusion

Winter water — Assateague National Seashore, Maryland (January 2014)
Sony a7 + Leica Summilux 50/1.4 ASPH

Does this happen to anyone else out there?

When I look at this photo (which is simply an out-of-focus shot of the ocean surf) for about 10 seconds, the white section of the image — particularly the right side — begins to squirm and rise. I know it’s just my perception and brain working together to play tricks on me, because there aren’t any fixed reference points in the image — but I thought it was interesting enough to share.

Too funny! At least you’re seeing something, too — I was a little hesitant about sharing this one, thinking that others might not see it, then think I was wasting their time.
