And the healing of our national wounds, that began on that day, continues even now!
“That cause was, I believe, one of the worst for which a people ever fought.” How true.
150 years later we have still not erased the legacy of slavery and the resultant evil of racism on our country. The fact that a war was fought to preserve slavey is one of the most shameful episodes in the history of the United States.
I bet it still hurts many and always will. Slavery was prevalent all over the world in countries that dominated others. To our present day thinking it seems incredible but…..look at the Middle East..it beggars belief what goes on there in 2015. We humans will never learn.
The Repaz Band from my town came down to play as they did 150 years ago.
