Looking at the picture myeyes say I like that but my head says ‘what is it?’ a cake or ice cream. What throws me is the knife not a spoon to eat it with. Yummy all the same (-:
It’s a popover (https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=popover&FORM=HDRSC2), that has been cut in half and filled with a big scoop of locally-made blueberry ice cream.
Popovers are easy to eat if they are piping-hot and direct from the oven. However, if they have a chance to cool — like this one did — they can get extremely chewy and are difficult to manage into bite-size pieces. Solution? Use a serrated knife to cut through the super chewy crust.
I had a spoon, but took it out of the frame for a better composition. 🙂
Thanks for the info….I was going to say a pastry like profiteroles but they stay soft and eaten cold. Anyway sounds good if you can get at it quick and the ice cream is melting (-:
Yes, very much like profiteroles, but with a chewier crust. Of course, the melting ice cream helps to soften it, but it’s all GOOD! 🙂
Hmmmm, if you say so , looks a bit scary to me!
Awww, they give you a knife just to make the extremely chewy popover more manageable, as you can’t get through the crust with anything less.
looks absolutely delicious…. yum
Oh, it was! So much so, that we had to visit twice and have it a second time.
It was tasty!
Yep that looks yum to me too!
And it was utterly delicious! 🙂
