I’m so glad you warned me of the color to come with your title “Color Riot”. It burst on the screen, but I was prepared. I was thrilled with the naked ladies, blooms that my parents had in West Tennessee when I was growing up. I’ve not seen them in the mountains of NC, so I’m wondering if it is too cold here. Should get off my duff and check. Thanks for the lovely photo that brought back old memories.

      Haha! 😀

I love ’em. I had no idea what they were until Cindy told me. Of course, it was while I was driving the car and she excitedly exclaimed, “LOOK, NAKED LADIES!!!” And — of course — I nearly got whiplash from trying to swivel my head around to see what she was going on about. Fun times. 😉

My wife blush? Haha — hardly! She did it that way to provoke exactly the reaction that she got. We both had a good laugh afterward, and always see which of us can be the first to say the same thing each year when the new blooms finally appear.

Oh I would love to be able to grow amaryllis outside!! They’re usually kept as indoor plants in the UK though some are hardier than others and can go out for the summer months. We have a big slug problem round here and they’ve decimated my lilies over the years! I don’t put pellets or anything like that out as it’s awful when it gets into the food chain and harms other animals. The rich tones of these amaryllis really are wonderful though and I hope you do get them for your yard Mitch 🙂 They’d be lovely to sit by at the days end.

Our problem is the lack of time after work to play with flowers and plants in the yard. We had a small vegetable garden, but it died from lack of weeding and proper care; the same goes for many of the less hardy plants and shrubs. 😦
